Riken Inflatable KayakFor years Riken inflatable kayaks were the standard inflatable kayak for outfitters. They were manufactured in Japan and were great boats that were tough as nails. Why past tense? Rikens are no longer manufactured. They stopped two or three years ago. The company that imported them for years stopped. NRS took over, but that only lasted a couple of years. Years ago, there weren't many choices for outfitters. Private use of inflatable kayaks meant you got an inexpensive, but much lower quality, recreational inflatable kayak. Or, you spent big bucks to get a outfitter quality inflatable kayak. Now, there are lots of inflatable kayaks on the market. There are many choices for outfitters. And, there are many choices for private users.
Used Inflatable KayakThere are some used Riken IKs on the market. They can be a great buy, but review our page on buying a used Riken inflatable kayak before buying. If you find one in good shape, it could last you years; but most were used by outfitters. Used outfitter boats can be in good shape, but some are worn out.
